Step 1 - Mechanically Separate entrained, dissolved metal ions from pure water in acid mine drainage creating a concentrate (or retentate) and cleaned/treated water; chemically modify pH of the treated water for direct discharge.
Step 2 - Mechanically Separate the ions from the Step 1 retentate creating a second concentrate and another portion of cleaned/treated water (again, modify pH of treated water for discharge).
Step 3 - Irrigate High-REE bearing feedstock (i.e. coal and/or coal by-products) with the second retentate thereby leaching entrained REEs to create a Pregnant Liquor Solution (PLS); feed PLS back to system
Step 4 - Pull off aqueous PLS or evaporate remaining water to create metal-sulfate salts for further processing (solvent extraction, etc.) in next stage of value stream.
End Result - a 20,000 ppm TREE pre-concentrate
